Trento - Jena (2014)

This page describes the syllabus for students who participate in the Double Degree Master Program in cooperation with the Universitá degli Studi di Trento and who spend their first year in Trento and their second year in Jena.

This syllabus recommends one possible path through the study regulations of Trento and Jena. It is possible to deviate from this path. However, Students who plan to deviate from the syllabus do this on their own responsibility. They have to make sure that they are still studying in accordance with the regulations in Jena and in Trento. They are advised to make explicit learning agreements to ensure that the courses they are taking can be credited in Trento and in Jena.

Information regarding the application procedure and regarding organisational matters is provided by the School of Economics at the FSU.

Students can choose one out of four Specialisation areas:

1st year in Trento (64 ECTS)

In their first year students obtain 64 ECTS in Trento. They take the following courses:

Intensive courses

(The first two (Introduction to Mathematics and Introduction to Economics) are taken together equivalent to Approaches to Economic Science in Jena.)

First year courses (64 ECTS)

2nd year in Jena (60 ECTS)

Students who spend their second year in Jena obtain 60 ECTS as follows:

Innovation and Change:
  • MW20.3-Economics of Innovation I: Innovation Decisions (6 ECTS) (counts as Area Economics in Trento).
  • MW21.4-Growth and Business Cycles / MW21.4-Growth and Innovation (6 ECTS) (counts as Free Choice in Trento).
  • MW22.3-Innovation Systems (6 ECTS) (counts as Area Economics in Trento).
Economics and Strategy:
  • MW20.3-Economics of Innovation I: Innovation Decisions (6 ECTS) (counts as Area Economics in Trento).
  • MW24.2-Quantitative Economics I (6 ECTS) (counts as Free Choice in Trento).
  • MW24.5-Quantitative Economics III (6 ECTS) (counts as Area Economics in Trento).
World Economy:
  • MW21.5-International Trade (6 ECTS) (counts as Free Choice in Trento).
  • MW23.1-Advanced Public Economics I / Advanced PSE I: Systems Competition (6 ECTS) (counts as Area Economics in Trento).
  • MW25.2-Trade and Development (6 ECTS) (counts as Area Economics in Trento).
Public Sector Economics:
